It takes confidence to pay for a Kickstarter video up-front, but Eric Andrus asked us do our best, and two months later, he had raised over $ 15,000 towards the completion of Ceres, a 36-foot-long flat-bottomed Thames River Barge.

Ceres' mission is to carry 9 tons of non-perishable food from Lake Champlain through the often ignored but still operational canal system down the Hudson to be sold in New York City powered only by her sails. And if that mission succeeds, she will repeat the journey year-round beginning in 2014.

This is a very exciting project, still underway, and we are currently in production on a longer documentary following the construction and voyage of the barge down and back again.

The tiny model seen in the fundraising video has grown into a full-scale, functioning sailing barge.
